José Diaz wins People's Choice Award
September 28, 2009José Diaz took home the People’s Choice Award at the OSU Staff Art Exhibit for his creation, in wood, titled Mi Casa, Su Casa. It, and many other works of art, currently are on display in Bricker Hall (second floor for José’s piece). From Bricker Hall, Mi Casa, Su Casa will move to the Schottenstein Center where it will be displayed with the other award winners.

Joan Herbers receives University Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award
May 18, 2009Joan Herbers has received the University Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award. This awards recognizes units or individuals that have demonstrated a significant commitment to enhancing diversity at the Ohio State University and to exceeding expectations in implementing the Diversity Action Plan.

Dave Stetson is finalist for Outstanding Teaching Award
April 24, 2009Dave Stetson has been selected as a finalist for the Arts and Sciences 2008-2009 Outstanding Teacher Award which is an honor bestowed entirely by students. He was one of four finalists, and was given his award at Wednesday's Arts and Sciences Spring Recognition Reception.

Ralph Boerner wins University Service Award
April 7, 2009The Selection Committee for the 2009 Faculty Award for Distinguished University Service has chosen EEOB's Dr. Ralph Boerner as a recipient. The Faculty Award for Distinguished University Service honors faculty members who contribute to the development and implementation of university policies and programs while continuing to teach and maintain active research, scholarship, or creative work. Recipients are nominated by members of the university community and selected by a committee of faculty, administrators, and previous recipients. On Tuesday, April 7th, Provost Joe Alutto presented the award, which recognizes Ralph's many contributions to the University, during the General Ecology class. Also present were committee members Carole Anderson and Randy Smith, Interim Dean Rich Hall, and the chair of the EEOB awards committee, Dave Stetson.

Denman Undergraduate Research Forum Applications Now Being Accepted
It's time to begin thinking about presenting YOUR research at The Denman Undergraduate Research Forum.
The Denman will be held this year on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in the RPAC. Applications for the 2009 Denman Forum are now available on line at http://denman.osu.edu. Deadline for submission is Wednesday, April 1, 2009.

Best Poster Presentation Award at the SICB, 2009
January 23, 2009Congratulations to Jen Olson who received the Best Poster Presentation Award at the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology meeting in Boston where she presented a poster on her work on hybridization in Chickadees. Her advisor is Dr. Joe Williams.

Steve Rissing Receives Major NSF Grant
January 16, 2009Congratulations go out to Steve Rissing, recipient of a major new NSF grant, ‘Ohio’s STEM Ability Alliance: Degrees and Careers for Ohioans with Disabilities’. Here is a selection from one of the project descriptions:
‘Ohio’s leaders recently invested $200 million in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and workforce development including five STEM 6-12 schools, scholarship programs and a series of summer academies. The Ohio STEM Ability Alliance (OSAA), a collaboration between Wright State and Ohio State Universities, proposes to leverage and extend these efforts to recruit, retain and graduate STEM students with disabilities.’
